Cultural Heritage Celebrations at USC
USC officially observes several Cultural Heritage Celebrations that recognize historical events and contributions, promote awareness of various cultures, and foster community. The Cultural Heritage Celebrations that USC recognizes meet the following criteria:
- Official Recognition: The observance is nationally recognized through a U.S. Presidential Proclamation or Congressional resolution.
- Demographic Relevance: The cultural group has significant representation among USC students, faculty, and staff.
- Broad Cultural Inclusivity: The celebration reflects a wide spectrum of identities and perspectives within the cultural group.
- Historical and Social Relevance: The celebration commemorates significant historical events and contributions.
This approach enhances educational opportunities, deeper cultural understanding across campus, and supports student engagement and belonging at USC.
Cultural Heritage Celebrations are supported by the Office of Culture, Ethics, and Compliance; Cultural Relations and University Events (CRUE); Student Life; and USC Communications.
The Cultural Heritage Celebrations are open to all eligible individuals. The university operates all of its programs and activities consistent with its Notice of Non-Discrimination. Eligibility is not determined based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other prohibited factor.
